Val:  There has never been a more perfect day than our wedding day. I think back on it often. But now, we are building our dream life, starting a business and I feel like we are on this crazy adventure and it’s absolutely thrilling. 

Kevin: The correct thing to say is getting married. Yes, our wedding day was absolutely a high point, however, changing our lives and buying a cattle ranch was a dream both of us shared and is now a reality. 

Val: Any time we have to move the cows. There is a ranching joke that says “I am sorry for what I said while working cattle”. It’s stressful and things can change quickly and usually someone is thinking of doing something one way while the other is thinking something completely different. 

Kevin: That’s a trap. Everything is great.

Val: I realized our relationship was going in a more serious direction and I blurted out , “I am going to have to get rid of Landshark (my cat), aren’t I?”.  

Kevin wasn’t a huge fan of cats, but he also had two hunting dogs and they hated cats too.

He said “No, you won’t. We will figure it out. We will put the dogs on leashes and introduce them slowly. We will do whatever it takes.”

 Kevin kept saying “we”. I realized my problems had become our problems. And that’s when I knew I was going to marry him. A man who may dislike something but was willing to find a solution to combine our lives was exactly someone I wanted to spend forever with. 

Kevin: After she had already moved in and we made it the first  month without killing each other, i knew it was the forever kind of love. But in all seriousness, I just knew. I can’t think of a specific date because I knew she was it for me. 

Val: Kevin is my rock. Any problem I have, big or small, silly or serious, he is my go to. 

He doesn’t just support my dreams, but encourages and pushes me to achieve my dreams even when I feel like I have failed and can’t do it.  The other thing I really appreciate about Kevin is his humor. He is so stinky funny and always makes me laugh. 

Kevin: She is always in my corner and my biggest supporter. There is no one else I’d rather saddle up the horses with and ride the ranch to check fences. Whenever life is going well, I know that she is the main reason it’s so great. She has an amazing outlook on life and constantly makes me laugh. She puts up with all of my hunting trips, my stubbornness and has never tried to change me and is still riding shotgun through it all.
